Takeaway Time

Monday Aug 23, 2010 | Maharajahs, Takeaway

All across the country – people are starting to cut back a bit – and increasingly rediscovering the joy of entertaining at home. Whilst making the effort to cook a nice meal is great – sometimes you just want to relax and enjoy the evening. That’s where our takeaway service can come in handy – whether you want to come and collect – or get us to deliver – our food can make your evening come alive.

Browse our Takeaway Menu and then give us a call on 0131 466 7281 – we’ll happily deliver all over Liberton and the surrounding areas. So – if you’re attending a dinner party in the near future – ask the host quietly – it may be that you’re enjoying our food!!

We know that lots of our customers are currently preparing themselves for the celebration of Eid fasting from dawn to dusk for Ramadan – and we wish them all the best.

Whether you are joining them or not – our chefs continue to create our delectable Indian treats ready for you to enjoy here in our Indian Restaurant, in the warmth and comfort of your home, or sneakily upstairs in your hotel or guest house room!

So whether you are just wanting great Indian food during your stay in Scotland – or you are breaking your day of fasting – give us a call on 0131 466 7281 – our food is always ready for you.

Edinburgh in August is something else – as the festival hits town and the whole city is absorbed in a full range of different forms of entertainment – ranging from some of the best comedy to world renowned dance troupes, circuses and the vibrance and colour of the annual visit of the Lady Boys of Bangkok!

Located in a world of guest houses and hotels – we know the city is busy – and whilst there is nothing like getting involved and soaking up the atmosphere – sometimes there is nothing better than getting away from the crowds. Whether you stay nearby – or just want to get away from the hustle and bustle – stretch your legs and get along to the Maharajahs – great food at a safe distance from the madness!

To all you people coming to stay in Edinburgh – we can strongly recommend the nearby area of Newington.  Almost every house there is a guest house or bed and breakfast – ranging from the reasonable to the fantastic – but all have 2 very special qualities.

Firstly, they are in the beautiful city of Edinburgh we call home – and secondly they are all close enough to our Indian Restaurant for you to stroll along and see us.

The Edinburgh Royal Mile and then a Real Curry

After a long day out sightseeing some of Edinburgh’s fine offerings, there is nothing better than a good hearty meal to recharge the batteries.  We are pretty sure that our food betters anything that your guest house can offer – so either come along and dine in our restaurant – or pick up a takeaway and nibble in your bedroom!

We are proud to offer takeaway and delivery locally to our restaurant – but that can be a challenge!!

Anybody who has been trying to buy a house in Edinburgh recently will have discovered that some areas of the city are bigger than others.

A perfect example of this is the lovely area of Liberton where our Indian Restaurant and Takeaway is situated. A quick look at houses in the Liberton area will come up with a range of properties ranging from walking distance to a decent drive away from us.

Whilst we’re more than happy for you to come and collect your meal – if you fancy us bringing it to your door (free for orders over £12 within 2 miles) you may be keen to know where we deliver to.

If you’re not sure if we’ll deliver to you – do you live in any of the following places? Alnwickhill, Blackford, Braids, Burdiehouse, Cameron Toll, Carnbee, Craigmillar, Frogston, Gilmerton, Grange, Howdenhall, Liberton, Little France, Loanhead, Marchmont, Mayfield, Moredun ark, Morningside, Mortonhall, Newington, Niddrie, Old Dalkeith Road, Swanston, The Inch or The Murrays?

Not sure – or if you live somewhere else nearby – give us a call on 0131 466 7281 and we’ll tell you if we’ll deliver to you.

Each month we have a look through our fantastic authentic Indian menu and find a dish that we think sums up exactly what we are about – true quality Indian food.  This month our featured dish is one that will please vegetarians and meat eaters alike – the fantastic Panir Massallam.

Panir Massallam is a classic in Indian restaurants all across the world and the effort and skill we put into ours means you’ll be hard pushed to find better than ours in Edinburgh!

Many of our readers will already be a big fan of this dish that combines a lovely mildly spiced sauce with the freshness of real Indian cheese.  If that sounds worryingly like a cheese fondue don’t worry – Panir stays in lovely bite size pieces.

Give it a try next you’re in our restaurant or order now for a takeaway.

When you head out for an Indian meal – are you hoping for something with a bit of spice?  There is a time and a place for everything – but sometimes you just want an authentic Indian meal with real heat to it.  None of these are for anyone with a delicate palate – but we certainly are more than happy to create these great curries if you just ask!

The Hottest Restaurant in Edinburgh

The Vindaloo Curry Dish

Our first dish is one you will already know – the Vindaloo. Although, almost legendary for it’s heat – this is a great tasting curry for those in the know – and heatwise – it is only third in our list.

The Phall Curry Dish

For our second dish, we introduce the Phall and the more observant of you will have noticed that it doesn’t feature on our menu. Amazingly, we get more requests for a Phall than a Vindaloo – and our chefs are always happy to oblige. This one will make the Vindaloo seem like a mild Korma!

The Naga Curry Dish

The final dish on our list is the legendary Naga. Made with the famous Naga Chilli (or the Bhut Jolokia pepper) there is every chance that this dish will burn your tongue instantly. The Chillis used in this dish are used in India for crowd control purposes – so don’t say you haven’t been warned!!

For you football fans it seems that after a bit of a flat start – the World Cup approaches the knock out stages and should really pick up from here.  (If you’ve had enough already – at least it’s almost over!).

With some cracking matches coming up – and the knowledge that all of them have to end up with a result entertainment is finally guaranteed!

What better way to enjoy an evening of football after work than either giving us a call and picking up a lovely Indian takeaway as you pass or taking advantage of our home delivery service and getting it brought to your door?  Alternatively – book a table in our restaurant and come and escape from it all.

Big Brother

Monday Jun 14, 2010 | Maharajahs, Takeaway

Much like the ongoing World Cup – Big Brother has returned to our screens – and seems to be on all the time.  If you’re a fan – it’s unmissable, for anyone who isn’t – it seems to be pretty much unavoidable – but at least this is the last series!

Whether you love it or hate it – how about enjoying a curry night whilst it is on.  Take advantage of our takeaway or delivery service.

From our location in Liberton (one of Edinburgh’s finest residential areas – and in our opinion – the best!) Maharajah’s continue to offer only the best and most flavoursome authentic Indian meals.

Whether you are looking to have a quiet and peaceful meal for one, or order a banquet for you and all your friends and extended families – we can provide the perfect food.

We offer delivery or takeaway on all of our menu – so just ask and we will make it happen.  We look forward to hearing from you – you can even order online through this website!
